First I was at a conference in a theater waiting for it to start. I was sitting with my younger staff from my old museum job. We went to get breakfast after finding our seats. Saw one of my staffers on the way out who gave me a big hug. He was taller than me but because we were on a ramp I was equal to his height.
We walked out and found a series of market stalls. I started talking with a French bakery that was selling brioche. I didn’t want that for breakfast because i wanted eggs but bought it anyhow. We were running late to get back to the conference so we never found the eggs and instead excitedly talked about eating the brioche (but never did, just patted it).
Next, my husband was driving us and we saw a beautiful fluffy red Irish setter. He was running around like a deer, obviously lost. Every turn we took he showed up. Finally I told my husband to stop so we could get the dog in our car and find his owner. The dog got in our back seat that already had a lot of dog fur. I hugged the dog and found the owners name and phone number on his tag. Roger tried dialing on his phone but couldn’t. Then I tried on mine but the phone kept freezing.
Your dream is filled with symbolic elements and scenarios that can reflect different aspects of your waking life, your emotions, and your subconscious thoughts. Here's an interpretation of some of the key themes and symbols in your dream:
-
The Conference and Museum Staff:
- Being at a conference with younger staff from your old museum job may indicate nostalgia or a reflection on past experiences and relationships. It suggests you might be revisiting old memories or considering how past experiences have influenced your current life.
- The idea of waiting for something to start could represent anticipation or a transition phase in your life. You might be on the brink of a new phase or opportunity.
-
Interacting with the Staff Member:
- The hug from the staff member symbolizes a connection and respect. It might mean you value past relationships and the influence these people had on you.
- Being on a ramp and standing at equal height might represent leveling the playing field in your relationships, suggesting mutual respect or understanding.
-
The Market and the French Bakery:
- Markets are places of exchange and choice, symbolizing decision-making or the many possibilities in life. The French bakery and your decision to buy brioche even though you wanted eggs suggest conflicts between indulgence/desire and practicality/needs. It may indicate compromises you're making, or decisions that don't fully align with your true desires.
-
Being Late and the Brioche:
- Running late to return suggests a feeling of urgency or pressure in your current life. This may reflect a fear of missing out on opportunities or not achieving your goals in a timely manner.
- Excitement about the brioche without actually eating it could symbolize unfulfilled desires or postponed gratification.
-
The Irish Setter:
- Dogs often represent loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love. A lost dog appearing frequently could symbolize something in your life that is out of place or undirected, perhaps a goal or a part of yourself.
- The recurring appearance of the dog suggests that there’s an unresolved issue or a persistent worry in your daily life that needs your attention.
-
Trying to Help the Lost Dog:
- Attempting to rescue the dog shows empathy and a willingness to help, reflecting qualities of compassion and responsibility. It may also represent a need to 'rescue' or address something lost or overlooked in your own life.
- The challenges with reaching the dog's owner via phone may symbolize communication issues or frustrations in your waking life. Perhaps you're facing obstacles in connecting with others or resolving certain issues.
Overall, your dream seems to focus on themes of nostalgia, decision-making, unfulfilled desires, the need for connection and communication, and the responsibility or desire to ‘rescue’ or resolve something important. It might be a call from your subconscious to reflect on past experiences, assess your current choices, and address underlying concerns or desires in your life.
